Some Natural Facts

Lichen love fresh air so if you see it, your lungs are happy. Some lichen is 4000 years old! Think twice before you touch them as they grow only about 1 mm/year. They provide trees with nutrients and are instrumental in preserving old growth trees. The natives used to use Lichen for medicine, food, and dyes.

Moss is hard not to find in British Columbia. With over 700 species, they play a vital role in our rain forests. Both the Alder Maple and Cotton Wood, extract nutrients from moss. Moss was also used by natives for medicine and dyes.

Born from molten rock 90 - 100 million years ago, the Coast Mountain Range in British Columbia is the youngest in the Province.
